Inflammatory breast cancer
This is a rare type of breast cancer. The breast might look swollen and red (inflamed) and may feel warm. In inflammatory breast cancer, the cancer cells block the smallest lymph channels in the breast. The lymph channels (or lymph ducts) are part of the lymphatic system. They normally drain excess tissue fluid away from the body tissues and organs. The lymph channels can’t do this job properly if they are blocked. Symptoms of inflammatory breast cancer
Make an appointment to see your doctor if you notice any change in the look or feel of your breasts. Because the lymph channels are blocked, the breast might become:
Other possible symptoms include:
Inflammatory breast cancer is often confused with an infection of the breast (mastitis). This is because the symptoms are very similar. Mastitis is uncommon in women who are not pregnant or breast feeding, and particularly rare in women who are past their menopause. Your doctor might give you a course of antibiotics first if they think that you could have mastitis. Or they might refer you to a specialist if they think you are unlikely to have an infection, or your symptoms don’t clear up after antibiotics. While inflammatory breast cancer can cause these particular symptoms, it’s worth being aware of the general symptoms of breast cancer. |

Im pretty sure if windows 98 was still in use this would have been a lot easier! Ive stolen/borrowed the daughters MacBook and somehow managed to get this far! So if its bit rough around the edges apologies and bare with me!
I wanted to start this blog to document my journey. Ive always found writing an outlet so Ive firmly jumped on the blogging band wagon and hope this will be my therapy. |

The weird thing is about this all is how not shocked I was at the diagnosis. I didn't go round telling people I might have cancer, but I could feel it. I did however pretend I may have an infection so I found myself sharing the pain and discomfort I was in. I guess that way I couldn't avoid going to my GP any longer. It seems absolutely ridiculous how a women could put something so important off but fear can do funny things to you! 'Surely if it was cancer I'd be more poorly?' What I didn't realise was, I was getting poorly.

I was tired all the time, I put it down to Effy's bed hopping routine. Hangovers were all of a sudden horrendous! I never really suffered so I put it down to getting old. I was feeling sick and getting hot but again I just put it down to being tired. I was extremely irritable and short tempered and I now I can see I was masking fear. My left breast wasn't right. My GP was fantastic within 3 weeks of seeing him I had a diagnosis. I have Breast Cancer. I will be starting Chemotherapy next week.
